Terms

Last updated Tuesday, August 25, 2026

These are the rules for using Minnesota Family. They describe what the platform does and what it expects of members. The clauses that carry legal weight are marked, and are waiting on professional review rather than being invented here.

What this platform is

Minnesota Family is a directory and a noticeboard. It introduces members to businesses, events, jobs, mutual aid and drivers. It is not a party to anything agreed between two members, it does not handle payment, and it does not deliver, cook, employ or transport anything itself.

Membership

  • Membership starts at 13. You are asked for a date of birth when you join, and an account is not opened below that age.
  • Registering as a delivery driver starts at 18, because a driver arrives at somebody's home.
  • One account per person, verified by a phone number you control.
  • Joining means accepting these terms and the privacy policy. The date and the version you accepted are recorded on your account, so what you agreed to can be answered later rather than assumed.
  • You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
  • The community side of the platform is free for members, and is funded by businesses advertising on it.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give the platform permission to display it here. Everything is reviewed before it appears, and a moderator can decline or remove anything, with a reason you can act on.

  • Post only what is true, and only what is yours to post.
  • No harassment, no impersonation, and nothing unlawful.
  • Reviews must come from real dealings. Reviews written by a business about itself, or paid for, are removed.
  • Businesses may supply testimonials, which are shown as such and never count toward a rating.

Selling food from home

Minnesota's cottage food law sets what may be made at home and sold, who has to register, and how it may reach a customer. Until 1 August 2027 that includes handing the food over in person; a driver cannot deliver it on the producer's behalf. The producer, not the platform, is responsible for following it.

Deliveries

Drivers are members, not employees or contractors of the platform. The platform introduces the two sides and records that a job was agreed. Any fee is arranged and paid directly between them. Insurance, licensing and roadworthiness are the driver's own responsibility.

Advertising

Paid placements are labelled as advertisements wherever they appear. Advertising is never sold in exchange for a review, a rating, a verified badge or a position in search results other than the slots that are labelled as paid.

Ending your membership

You can delete your account and what you posted at any time. The platform may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will say why.

What the platform does not promise

The platform is a place for the community to list and find things. It is provided as it is, without a warranty of any kind, and it may be unavailable or interrupted.

Listings, reviews, offers of help, job posts and messages are written by members, not by us. We review what is submitted before it appears, but a review is not an endorsement, a background check, or a guarantee that a business is licensed, insured, competent or honest. Deciding who to hire, buy from, meet, or let into your home is your decision, and the responsibility for it is yours.

Nothing here is legal, medical, immigration, financial or employment advice. Where a listing concerns a regulated activity, such as food, childcare, transport or a licensed trade, it is for the business to hold the licences that activity requires.

Liability, disputes and governing law

This section is drafted in good faith and is waiting on a lawyer's review. Read it as what we intend, not as legal advice.

To the fullest extent Minnesota law allows, the platform is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data or lost opportunity, arising out of your use of it. Nothing in these terms limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

You agree to cover the platform against claims that arise from what you post or from your breach of these terms.

If something goes wrong, tell us first. Most disputes are settled faster by a conversation than by anything else, and we will engage with one in good faith.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute that cannot be settled between us belongs to the state or federal courts sitting in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

If any part of this section is held unenforceable, the rest of it stands.

Who operates this platform

This section is missing a detail nobody has supplied yet, and is left open rather than filled in with something nobody has approved.

This section needs the legal entity name, its registered address, and a contact address for notices.
